Emeralds are rare gems found underground in extreme hills/extreme hills edge biomes.

Emeralds are found at and below layer 32. (The top layer of bedrock is layer 5)

Emerald ore |
A piece of emerald ore will drop one emerald, unless you have a fortune enchantment on your pickaxe. Emerald ore must be mined with either an iron or diamond pickaxe.
You can trade emeralds with villagers.
