HOW TO BREED ANIMALS IN SURVIVAL MODE MINECRAFT

Grass

Many people aren't sure how to breed animals without using the spawn eggs in creative. I will show you how to do it without the spawn eggs, and in survival. First, you need to mine grass. Lots of grass. Grass is a naturally occurring plant that looks like this.





The whole point of destroying lots of grass is to get seeds. Sometimes when you hit a grass piece, a seed will fall out. A seed looks like this:

Once you've collected enough seeds (10-20 for starters) make a garden that looks a little like this.

 

Then, use a water bucket...











And fill the center gap of the garden by pressing the use item button when holding the bucket.

Then make a hoe...

... so you can make the farmland fertile (able to have seeds in it) by pressing the use item button on the farmland.

 Next, plant your seeds in the fertile soil by pressing the use item button on the soil.

Your seeds will have to grow a while, so be patient...
but soon you will have full grown stalks (below) Notice the full grown stalks have brown tips.
Harvest these stalks by simply pressing the attack button on them. Two seeds and one wheat should fall out. You only really need the wheat right now.

Now, to spawn an animal, you need to get two of the same animal. In my case, pigs. You also might want to trap them. 

With the wheat in your hand, press the use item button ON BOTH ANIMALS!!!! They should both have hearts around them, and they should go to each other.

 If you did this right, YOU SHOULD SEE A BABY PIG! Animals like cats and dogs are bred differently.
